60% wood
The production uses softwood flour obtained from PEFC-certified European forests (forests that are sustainably managed and, therefore, never harvest more wood than the forest grows in a year).
Up to 40% polymer
There are many types of plastics, and each has slightly different properties. Some polymers become brittle when it is frozen or have reduced UV resistance. HDPE (high-density polyethylene), which also contains Terafest®, seems to be the best for making WPC components.
Up to 10% is accounted for by pigments and binders.
Even though they make up only a small part of the composite, they are the most important and, at the same time, the most costly component. They have a major influence on the durability and colour fastness of the material outdoors. Each manufacturer of wood plastic keeps its exact recipe scrupulously secret. But whoever skimps on the additives simply can’t make their wood plastic composite decking last. Fortunately, this is not the case with Woodplastic’s Terafest® composite timber.
